Inspired by the Moose who scamper about Isle Royale in the far North.
An original pen and watercolor illustration on Arches cold press paper (has more texture).
It has a little bit of my lovely watercolor mess on it. Originals are sealed with a fixative to preserve the illustration.
While I was in school at Michigan Tech, the Wolf Moose study on Isle Royale was all the rage. The wolves took a hit in the mid 2010’s and the national park service reintroduced some 19 between 2018 and 2019. During the wolf hiatus moose numbers rose to over 2000. How do they manage to count these large, elusive mammals I wonder.
